 Notice to Mariners

Western Erie Canal – Macedon/Rochester

October 7, 2022

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Western Erie Canal on the following schedule:

  • Tuesday, October 11th – Erie Canal Lock E-30 – (Macedon) Southeast Approach Wall below the lock.
  • Wednesday, October 12th – Erie Canal Lock E-30 – (Macedon) Southwest Approach Wall above the lock.
  • Thursday, October 13th – Genesee River – (Court Street Dam) Southeast Retaining Wall.
  • Friday, October 14th – Genesee River – (Court Street Dam) Southwest Retaining Wall.

The inspection areas will be marked by commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters should reduce speed and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting these areas.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. All vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time. For more information, please click here.
