Notice to Mariners
Erie Canal – Fort Hunter/Scotia
October 8, 2021
Mariners are advised that the Burnt Hills Rowing Association will be conducting a marathon row on Saturday, October 9. The event will start at the Schoharie Crossing west of Erie Canal Lock E-12 (Tribes Hill), continue through to Lock E-8 (Scotia) and finish in Alplaus near the Mohawk Valley Marina. Approximately 5 rowing shells rowing shells will participate and be accompanied by three outboard escort boats.
Mariners should reduce speed, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when approaching event participants.
The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. All vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time. For more information, click here.
