Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Whitesboro

October 1, 2021

Mariners are advised of electrical conductor replacement work by the New York Power Authority over the Erie Canal. This work will occur from Monday, October 4, continuing through Friday, October 8, depending on weather. The worksite location is west of the NY Route 291 Bridge (E-48A) over the Erie Canal, in Whitesboro.

A watchman will alert workers of approaching vessels who will suspend work to allow vessels to pass through the work area. Mariners must reduce speed, stop all forward motion, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when traversing the work area.
