Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Amsterdam

July 16, 2021

Mariners are advised of a series of group kayaking excursion events occurring on the Erie Canal in Amsterdam, east of Erie Canal Lock E-12 in Tribes Hill, at the Yankee Hill Historic Lock kayak launch.

Kayak event participants will proceed through Erie Canal Lock E-11 in Amsterdam and exit the Canal at the Port Jackson Boat Launch and Park. These events will occur on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and will continue through August 29th.

Boaters should reduce speed, stop all forward motion, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when approaching event participants and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5 MPH.
