Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Lysander

May 21, 2021

Mariners are advised of electrical conductor replacement work by the New York Power Authority over the Erie Canal. This work will occur on Monday, May 24th and Tuesday, May 25th until the end of the day, depending on weather. The worksite location is north of the Belgium Bridge (E-72) NY Rt. 31 over the Erie Canal, in Lysander, in the vicinity of Buoy G "233".

A watchman will alert workers of approaching vessels who will suspend work to allow vessels to pass through the work area. Mariners must reduce speed, stop all forward motion, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when traversing the work area.
