Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal –Wayne, Monroe and Orleans Counties

May 20, 2021

Mariners are advised that bridge washing activities have begun on New York State Department of Transportation bridges between Lyons-Marengo Road (E-96) in the Town of Galen, Wayne County and Marshall Road (E-212) over the Erie Canal, in the Town of Ridgeway, Orleans County. There are 48 bridges to be washed.

These activities will continue until the closed of the navigation season.

Work is to be completed by UBIU Truck, Bucket Trucks, and a 14-foot work boat.

A safety spotter will be positioned on the craft to minimize disruption to the boating public.

Mariners should proceed with caution through these areas and stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No-Wake" speed.
