Notice to Mariners

New York State Canal System Closing Advisory

September 19, 2019

Mariners are reminded that the New York State Canal System is scheduled to close for the 2019 navigation season on Wednesday, October 16th at 5:00 p.m.  All recreational vessels transiting the Canal System must exit the System prior to that time.

Commercial vessels requiring additional time to clear the System are required to obtain a Post Navigation Season Permit by contacting the Navigation Program Manager at (518) 461-0942 as soon as possible, and no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2nd.
