Notice to Mariners
Eastern Erie Canal – Fort Hunter to Alplaus
October 5, 2024
Mariners are advised that a rowing event will occur on Sunday, October 6th, from 8am to 4pm. The event will start at the Schoharie Crossing west of Erie Canal Lock E-12 in Tribes Hill, continue through Lock E-8 in Scotia and finish in Alplaus near the Mohawk Valley Marina. Approximately 7 rowing shells will participate and be accompanied by outboard escort boats.
Boaters should reduce speed, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when approaching event participants and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5 mph.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. All vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time.
