Notice to Mariners

Western Erie Canal - Lyons

September 27, 2024

 

Mariners are advised of a lock inspection occurring on the Erie Canal on the following schedule.

• Wednesday, October 2^nd – Erie Canal Lock E-28A (Lyons) – Lock chamber and surrounding area.

Boaters may encounter an inspection boat in the lock chamber and surrounding area and should use caution, stop all forward motion, sound horns, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed of not more than 5 mph. Delays may occur during the inspection. 

Boaters should plan their itineraries accordingly.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. All vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time.
