 Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Scotia to Alplaus

September 27, 2024

 

Mariners are advised that a marathon row will be occurring from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 29^th. The event will occur between the Western Gateway Bridge (E-13) and Mohawk Valley Marina in Alplaus. Approximately 200 rowing shells will participate and be accompanied by outboard escort boats. Mariners should reduce speed, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when approaching event participants and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5mph.

Law enforcement boats will be present.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. All vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time.
