Notice to Mariners

Oswego, Erie and Cayuga-Seneca Canals

September 6, 2024

 

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Oswego, Erie and Cayuga-Seneca Canals starting on the following schedule:

  • Monday, September 9th – Oswego Canal Lock O-1, (Phoenix) – Southeast Approach Wall, Above the Lock.
  • Tuesday, September 10th – Court Street Dam, (Rochester) – Southeast and Southwest River Walls.
  • Wednesday, September 11th – Geneva Street, (Lyons) – Retaining Wall, Below Lock E-27.
  • Thursday, September 12th, – Cayuga-Seneca, Lock C/S-1, (Cayuga) – Taintor Gate, West of the Lock.
  • Thursday, September 12th, – Cayuga-Seneca, Lock C/S-1, (Cayuga) – Northeast Approach Wall, Below the Lock.
  • Friday, September 13th – Erie Canal Lock E-25, (May’s Point) – Moveable Dam, South of the Lock.

 

The inspection areas will be marked by commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters should use caution and proceed at a "No Wake" speed of not more than 5 mph in this area.
