Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Lock E-8 to Lock E-16

August 14, 2024

 

Mariners are advised that the Canal Corporation is in the process of reinstalling the Erie Canal’s Movable Dams between Lock E-8 and Lock E-16 with water levels returning to normal navigation level throughout the week. This section will reopen to vessels as soon as safe and adequate water levels for navigation are achieved between the locks.

 

The reopening of the canal along the Mohawk River is anticipated as follows:

 

Lock E-12 to Lock E-16 – Anticipated reopening Friday, August 16, 2024

 

Lock E-8 to Lock E-12 – Anticipated reopening Saturday, August 17, 2024

 

This schedule is subject to change and further updates will be announced in subsequent Notice to Mariners alerts.
