Canal System Update

August 12, 2024

 

Mariners are advised that the following sections of the Canal system that were announced as closed in a previous Notice to Mariners will reopen to navigation at 1pm today.

 

Erie Canal

Lock E-24 (Baldwinsville) through E-27 (Lyons)

 

Cayuga/Seneca Canal

Lock CS-1 (Cayuga)

 

Mariners may encounter heavy debris as well as red and green buoys (Aids to Navigation) off station due to strong currents from recent heavy rainfall in the areas listed above. Mariners are also advised of reports of red and green buoys (Aids to Navigation) off station on Oneida Lake, Cross Lake and the Oswego River.

 

Boaters should proceed with caution in these areas of the Canal system.
