Notice to Mariners
Oswego and Erie Canals
August 9, 2024
Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Oswego and Erie Canals starting on the following schedule:
- Monday, August 12th – Tree Rivers Terminal, (Clay) – Terminal Wall
- Tuesday, August 13th – Oswego Canal Lock O-6, (High Dam) – Northeast Approach Wall
- Wednesday, August 14th – Erie Canal Lock E-23, (Brewerton) – Guard Gate, Above the Lock and Northeast Approach Wall
- Thursday, August 15th – Erie Canal Lock E-23, (Brewerton) – Southeast and Southwest Approach Wall
- Friday, August 16th – Erie Canal Lock E-25, (May’s Point) – Moveable Dam, South of the Lock
The inspection areas will be marked by commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters should use caution and proceed at a "No Wake" speed of not more than 5 mph in this area.
