Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Lock E-29 Palmyra

July 20, 2024

 

Mariners are advised that beginning Monday, July 22nd, Erie Canal Lock E-29 in Palmyra will be intermittently closed to accommodate divers conducting underwater survey work. Survey work is expected to be completed over a period of 10-days, not including weekends.

Mariners should call Lock E-29 at (315) 597-4691 or radio the lock operator on marine radio channel 13 to check the status of the lock.

Boaters should reduce speed, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting this area and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5 MPH.

The Canal Corporation appreciates the patience of the mariners while this survey work is underway.
