Notice to Mariners

Central Erie Canal – Onondaga Lake Outlet

July 8, 2024

 

Mariners are advised that bridge repair activities will begin on New York State Thruway Bridge (E-74A) over the Erie Canal in Geddes, Onondaga County on Tuesday, July 9^th, and will continue through Friday, July 12^th.  Barges with scaffolding and workboat will encroach on and be moving in the navigation channel beneath the bridge. A spotter will be present to monitor vessel traffic. Normal overhead clearance of the bridge will not be affected.

Boaters should reduce speed, stop all forward motion, sound horns, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed of not more than 5 mph when traversing this area.
