Notice to Mariners

Cayuga-Seneca and Erie Canals

June 21, 2024

 

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Cayuga-Seneca and Erie Canals on the following schedule:

• Monday, June 24 – Cayuga-Seneca Lock CS-4 (Waterloo) – Guard Gate
• Tuesday, June 25 – Cayuga-Seneca Lock CS-4 (Waterloo) – Taintor Gate and Retention Dam, North of the Lock
• Wednesday, June 26 – Erie Canal Lock E-27 (Lyons) Northeast Approach Wall
• Wednesday, June 26 – Erie Canal Lock E-28B (Newark) Northeast Approach Wall
• Thursday, June 27 – Erie Canal Lock E-25 (May’s Point) Northwest Approach Wall

The inspection areas will be marked by commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters should reduce speed and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting these areas.                                 Charts showing the affected areas can be found at
