Notice to Mariners
Cayuga-Seneca and Erie Canals
June 3, 2024
Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Cayuga-Seneca and Erie Canals on the following schedule:
- Tuesday, June 4th – Cayuga-Seneca Canal Lock CS-1, (Cayuga) – Guard Gate, South of the lock and Northwest Approach Wall.
- Thursday, June 6th - Cayuga-Seneca Canal Lock CS-4, (Waterloo) – Guard Gate, West of the Lock and Taintor Gate, North of the Lock.
- Friday, June 7th – Erie Canal Lock E-25, (May’s Point) – Northwest Approach Wall, Lyons Dry Dock North Approach Wall and Brockport Waste Wier just west of Smith St. Bridge (E-183) in the Village of Brockport.
The inspection areas will be marked by commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters should use caution and proceed at a "No Wake" speed of not more than 5 mph in these areas. Delays may occur during the inspections. Boaters should plan their itineraries accordingly.
