Project Overview

The DeRuyter Reservoir Dam, which dates back to the Civil War era, is scheduled for repairs later this year. The repairs will include embankment stability berm construction, installing drainage systems and building new low-level outlets for the dam and rehabilitating the overflow spillway structures.

The project will require the Canal Corporation to lower the DeRuyter Reservoir’s elevation about 10 feet below spillway crest elevation to allow the work to proceed while protecting the safety and integrity of the dam. Repairs will begin after Labor Day, in order to minimize the impact to property owners, boating and fishing interests during the peak summer months and will take 10 to 12 months to complete.
